Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes and the right kind of day is jewelled balm for the battered spirit.
A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world.

Where we are

Patonga

Early maps called this area Betonga, which means oyster in the local indigenous language. Now known as Patonga Beach, this area features a public wharf, a boat ramp, two playgrounds and the picturesque beach with the stand of large Norfolk pine trees along the foreshore.
Getting out on the water is the best way to experience Patonga Beach. The waters are calm due to its location within a recessed bay and this makes it perfect for watersports, boating, fishing or just for children to paddle in.

Kayaking, canoeing or standup paddle boarding are perfect ways to discover the beauty of the National Park. However, if you're feeling energetic but want to stay on dry land, there are tennis courts, playgrounds and the local oval for all kinds of sports.

For the bushwalkers, the trail leading to Warrah Lookout is a strenuous but great walk. It’s at the top of the headland and the view is epic. You can see Palm Beach and all the way through to the Hawkesbury River. Warrah Lookout is one of the top scenic viewpoints on the Central Coast, so it’s well worth the hike! The track starts at the eastern end of the beach and it will take you around 30-45 minutes to get there. Feeling even more adventurous? Continue on from the lookout for about another 30 minutes and you’ll arrive at Pearl Beach.
At the southern end of Patonga Beach, you’ll find the estuary of Patonga Creek, which is surrounded by Brisbane Water National Park. The creek is shallow, edged by mangroves and from it you can observe many birds in their natural habitat.

Patonga is famous for the Boathouse Hotel, which underwent a $5 million renovation in 2018. It’s the perfect place to watch the day drift by, as you enjoy a great menu of high quality pub food including fresh local seafood. All washed down with your favourite drink.

For those who prefer to prepare their own specialities, nearby Umina has three supermarkets and several convenience stores. Umina also boasts a movie theatre, loads more restaurants and even local markets on the third Sunday of every month.
PLEASE NOTE: Lifeguards do not patrol Patonga Beach.
